A family may need a governess for a school‑age child in various situations. For example, when parents don’t have enough time to help the child with their studies, explain challenging topics, and check their homework. Or if there’s a need to establish and maintain an effective daily routine — to balance studies, rest, and extracurricular activities. A governess can be useful when the child attends clubs, sports sections, or tutoring sessions and needs accompaniment, as well as in the event of moving to another country: in that case, the child will need help with adaptation, including learning the language and getting used to the new school curriculum. Such a specialist will be helpful if the parents have a busy schedule — so that there’s an adult nearby who can provide not just supervision but also engaging, development‑oriented communication. A governess will become indispensable if the family travels frequently: she can organise the child’s studies during the trips. Finally, sometimes a family wants the child to have a mentor who will help unlock their potential, support their motivation for learning, and tailor the lessons to the child’s individual characteristics.
Parents’ employment
If parents don’t have enough time to help their child with their studies, explain difficult topics, and check their homework.
Daily routine
When it’s necessary to establish and maintain an effective daily routine — to balance studies, rest, and extracurricular activities. When the child attends clubs, sections, or tutoring sessions and needs accompaniment.
Assistance with education
Help with homework, explain complex topics, and foster a love of learning. Organize useful and engaging leisure activities: walks, educational games, and creative pursuits. If necessary, support foreign language learning or help prepare for Olympiads and exams.
Live-in
Unlike a part‑time assistant, a live‑in governess ensures continuity in the child’s education and provides stability: she immerses herself deeply in the child’s academic routine and personal characteristics, becoming a reliable support in everyday life.

International governess recruitment and  relocation support
We support families living across multiple countries, spending seasons abroad, or planning relocation. We consider visa requirements, languages, cultural specifics, and the governess’s readiness for travel.
Why choose the Royal Keeper agency when looking for a governess for a school‑aged child?
We help families avoid spending months on the search and connect them immediately with verified governesses — locally and worldwide.
Limited access to strong candidates
Royal Keeper has a large private database: we have been working since 2000, and many governesses deliberately do not post their CVs online or enter the open market. You gain access to professionals impossible to find through regular listings.
Time and speed of response
When a family is suddenly left without a governess, it can take weeks to find a replacement on their own. We already know who is currently available and can offer initial options in a short time — this is especially important when the child is approaching exam periods.
Uncertainty when a governess quits suddenly
Situations where a governess leaves are inevitable. That is why the agency exists: we do not leave the family to face the problem alone — we launch a new search and help organise a smooth transition to a new specialist.
Search when relocating or abroad
When moving to another country, it’s difficult to figure out where and how to find a governess for a school‑aged child locally, who to trust, and what the market expectations are. Royal Keeper operates worldwide and helps find governesses for school‑aged children in different countries, taking into account languages, cultural aspects, and legal nuances.
Risk of fraud and unqualified candidates
Over the years we have built extensive candidate histories: we know where and how they worked, which families recommended them, and how they handled challenges. This lets us filter out suspicious and unqualified profiles before they ever reach your interview stage.
Most families who initially try to find a governess for a school‑aged child on their own face the same challenges — lack of time, uncertainty, and the risk of making a mistake. Royal Keeper takes care of this so that you can focus on your family rather than endless interviews.

the governess’s skills but also her ethics are important.

If you need a governess for a school‑age child, we will carry out a thorough selection of candidates with proven experience in teaching and supporting school‑age children.
The selection is available both for families in a single location and in an international format — if you frequently move, lead a nomadic lifestyle, or are looking for a governess to accompany you on trips. During the selection process, we pay attention not only to teaching experience and subject knowledge but also to personal qualities: tact, responsibility, the ability to find common ground with the child, and strict adherence to the rules established by the family.
